All about what you need to know, and all about what you don’t.
I have taken the time to break down the CDL manual into it’s most simplistic form to help you learn more easily and quickly everything you need to know for your exams. Let’s get started!
What You Need To Know
I’m going to give you the bare minimum here, with only what you need for your general Class A CDL. Many of you know that there are various endorsements you can add later. You just need to pay for the exam for that endorsement, which is just another computer or written test. Not a big deal, and I will put up some guides to the different endorsements similar to this one here soon.
The necessary sections are as follows,
1. Introduction
2. Driving Safely
3. Transporting Cargo Safely
4. Air Brakes
5. Combination Vehicles
6. Vehicle Inspection Test
7. Basic Vehicle Control Skills Test
8. On-Road Driving
If you are going to take your permit test study sections 1-5.
Sections 6-8 will be what you need to know for your licensing exams.
I’ve separated the sections into smaller chunks, because it’s a lot to take in on one page. Here is how I have separated them.
General Knowledge
This link contains sections 1, 2 and 3 only. You will also need working knowledge of sections 4 and 5 for the exam. The sections for this exam are excruciatingly long.
I have worked my hardest to shorten and summarize everything without loosing the integrity of the information. I hope that this will help you better prepare for your exams. Study hard. I believe in you!
Air Brakes
This link contains section 4 only. It is important to read over and understand the concepts in this section before moving on to combination vehicles.
Combination Vehicles
This link contains section 5 only. This will be the last of the three sections you’ll need to study before taking your 3 permit examinations. After you receive your permit you will need to begin practicing for your licensing exams.
